KARACHI:

The Traffic Police have issued public advisories informing commuters about temporary road closures across key city arteries due to ongoing development and construction work. Alternative routes have been arranged to ensure smooth traffic flow.

Jahangir Road, connecting Teen Hatti to Gurumandir, will remain closed for one week starting from midnight. Traffic heading from Teen Hatti to Gurumandir will be diverted via Jail Chowrangi, Nashtar Road, PIB Chowrangi, and Jamshed Road. Heavy commercial vehicles are advised to take the route via Dak Khana Chowrangi to Askari Park or Nazimabad No 1 Chowrangi.

Meanwhile, both tracks of the Malir River Bridge on the National Highway will be closed from 7am to 7pm on Sunday due to construction work on the Malir Expressway. Commuters from Quaidabad heading towards the city can take a U-turn at Shahrah-e-Bhutto, while vehicles from the Moulvi Hotel area can use a temporary track beside the bridge. Traffic police personnel will be present on-site to guide motorists.

Similarly, the road from Creek to Defence near Ayesha Mosque, accessible via Shahrah-e-Bhutto Interchange, will be temporarily closed. The track from Ayesha Mosque towards Creek will remain open.

Alternative routes have been suggested: commuters from Sharae Faisal via Korangi Road to Defence can turn at Ittehad Signal and proceed via Khayaban-e-Ittehad, while those heading to Korangi can use the newly constructed flyover at Qayoomabad Chowrangi over Malir Nadi. Traffic from Shaheed-e-Millat Road to Defence can use the PT Flyover, while vehicles heading to Korangi should use the new Qayoomabad Chowrangi flyover.

The Traffic Police urged citizens to plan their journeys accordingly and contact helpline at 1915 for guidance or assistance in case of emergencies.
