Family ‘honour’: Teenage girl shot dead
The two were taken to Women and Children Hospital
HARIPUR:
A man gunned down his teenage niece for visiting a market with her fiancé on Wednesday, said residents of Haripur. Sixteen-year-old Isra* was engaged to a relative, Aftab, from Maira village. On Wednesday, Aftab persuaded Isra to go Eid shopping with him to the city market. After news of their shopping trip spread among family members, Isra’s maternal uncle Shafique declared they had violated family traditions. When Isra returned, Shafique took his 30-bore pistol and opened fire on her. As she attempted to rescue her daughter, Rubina Bibi was also hit by a single bullet. The two were taken to Women and Children Hospital where doctors pronounced Isra dead on arrival and Rubina was admitted.
