BDU defuse explosives found in Peshawar house
Police raid house using CNIC of suspected criminal; three women taken into custody during search operation.
PESHAWAR:
A bomb disposal unit (BDU) on Wednesday defused two hand grenades and an improvised explosive device (IED) found inside a house in Peshawar, Express News reported.
Police raided a house on Pajagi Road, found the explosive material and seized it.
The raid was conducted using a Computerised National Identity Card (CNIC) of a suspected criminal, reportedly identified as Ilyas.
The suspected criminal was allegedly involved in the attack on a motorway police junior immigration officer last night. Unidentified men had opened fire on the officer and injured him. The officer retaliated, however, the attackers manged to flee, dropping a CNIC at the scene.
Using the CNIC of the attacker, the police managed to raid his house today.
Three women were taken into custody during the search operation, in which sniffer dogs were used as well.
A large contingent of police officers has reached the site and further investigations are underway.
