MULTAN:

The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) is not behind Arsalan Iftikhar’s allegations against the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan, State Minister for Water and Power Abid Sher Ali said on Tuesday.

He was talking to journalists during a visit to Multan Electric Power Company (Mepco).

“We have no link with Arsalan,” the minister said.

He said the PTI had backtracked from its position when it formed a coalition with the Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PML-Q). “The PML-Q leadership is involved in some of the biggest corruption cases in the country. Now they have joined hands with the PTI,” Ali said.

“The PTI has ignored the PML-Q’s corruption. They are fast losing their creditability. The people now know what they really represent,” the minister said.

He said the PTI had shown no concern for the internally displaced people of North Waziristan. “The PTI leaders are more concerned with their political show on August 14,” Ali said.

He said that the PTI leaders should not level baseless allegations against PML-N leadership.

“Imran Khan never talks about the $3 million he collected in campaign donations for the 2013 general elections,” he said. The minister said unscheduled loadshedding was happening in some areas of southern Punjab.

“We are improving the supply standards and soon we will permanently end unscheduled loadshedding and electricity theft,” he said.

The minister said Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif had put the country back on the path to progress and the people of the country should support his policies.

He said the PML-N leadership was determined not to let anyone take power through the backdoor. “Some elements want to disturb the peace and progress of the country in the hope of gaining power,” he said.
