Model town mayhem: Police seek time to submit record

The court adjourned the hearing until July 15.

LAHORE:

A court on Tuesday sought comments from Faisal Town police on a petition seeking a case against 19 people, including the prime minister and the Punjab chief minister, for their alleged role in the killing of 14 Pakistan Awami Tehreek workers during a police operation in Model Town.

Additional District and Sessions Judge Safdar Ali Bhatti had earlier ordered the Faisal Town SHOto submit his reply by July 8. On Tuesday, police sought more time to submit a reply saying that the relevant record was with the joint investigation team probing the carnage.

The petitioner’s counsel said police were responsible for the killings during the operation against encroachments.

The court adjourned the hearing until July 15.
