Pak-japan business: Envoy calls for promoting trade

The envoy outlined Pakistan’s priorities of energy, infrastructure especially transportation and small and medium dams

ISLAMABAD:
Pakistan ambassador to Tokyo Farukh Amil met leading Japanese businessmen and sought their support for enhancing bilateral trade between the two countries. The envoy called on the chairman and president of Oita Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OCCI) and discussed ways for promoting bilateral trade and investment in Pakistan. Oita is the home to major companies such as Nippon Steel, Toshiba, Daihatsu and hi-tech and pharmaceuticals industry. The ambassador outlined Pakistan’s priorities of energy, infrastructure especially transportation and small and medium dams. Describing Oita as a city of the future, the ambassador stressed the importance of clean, renewable and environmentally friendly energy sources, particularly geo-thermal and solar. OCCI chairman welcomed Pakistan’s interest in these areas and said that increased awareness and interaction and joint ventures would help develop business ties.
