Land disputes, incomplete development and lack of infrastructure are among the reasons for the housing society giving a deserted look. Owners of plots in various sectors have not been granted land ownership despite several deadlines being set for the purpose. The affected plot owners have called upon Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif to order action against the housing society’s management.
Some plot owners said that they were even willing to sell their property for the price they had already paid in instalments, but said that no one was willing to buy the land without getting its ownership.
The commercial area of the society has also not been developed. No arrangements have been made for providing transport while a grid station to provide electricity has not been built yet.
There is no hospital in the society either.
Not a single house has been completed in Sector 2 and M:2A due to lack of infrastructure. Most of the area in Sector M3 has not been developed and the land is still being cultivated by previous owners.
Although the management had promised to build roads in the sector by July 2013, only a few streets have been carpeted so far. Sector M:3 (Ext) also gives a deserted look. Sector M4, reserved for one-kanal, two-kanal and four-kanal plots, only houses two model houses – one of which has been left incomplete.
Lake City Housing Society sales executive Abdul Qadir told The Express Tribune that possession of plots in Sector M7 would be handed by the end of the year, and that of Sector M8 in the next year.
