FAISALABAD: Punjab Police Inspector General Mushtaq Sukhaira has ordered strict action against investigation officers who investigate rape cases without getting the requisite DNA tests of victims and suspects, a police spokesman told journalists on Sunday. He said the directions had followed a series of complaints against investigation officers who did not follow the investigation protocol in rape incidents. The IGP has directed city police officers and district police officers to conduct a probe into the complaints and take action against investigation officers who complete their investigations without conducting DNA tests, thereby providing suspects with the benefit of doubt.
