Stemming Crime: Rented vehicles facilitating felony says CPO
Police officials have been directed to collate a list of vehicle rental agencies to thwart crime.
FAISALABAD:
Police officials have been directed to collate a list of vehicle rental agencies to thwart crime. At a meeting with Punjab Inspector General of Police (IGP) Mushtaq Ahmed Sukhera on Saturday, Faisalabad City Police Officer (CPO) Dr Haider Ashraf observed that criminals usually employed rented vehicles as “get away” vehicles after committing felonies. He said criminals abandoned rented cars after carrying out various offences. Ashraf said the police was in possession of a list of automobiles that had been used for criminal activities which criminal elements had employed to conceal their movements from law enforcement agencies. “In an effort to curb this tendency, police officers have been directed to compile a list of car rental agencies and their vehicles that would be available at every divisional police headquarter,” he said. The CPO said the data would be used to track suspects in the event of any untoward incident.
