The US Govt should back off. Some years back my best friend's dad passed on. He was 66 and had not collected one red cent from Social Security. He had spent 44 years of his life paying into it. And since he was elf-employed for most of his life he had to pay double the percentage paid by a regularly employed for Social Security. Here is the breakdown of the taxes he paid: Federal Social Security Medicare Unemployment insurance Property taxes Taxes in earned income from interests from banks Sales tax Everywhere we turn the Govt, in its multifarious avatars, strive strenuously to puts its hands in out pockets.
