‘Zardari wants women’s university’
Acting G-B governor says president wants to set up a separate university for women in the region.
GILGIT:
Acting governor of Gilgit-Baltistan (G-B), Wazir Baig, said on Friday that President Asif Zardari wants to set up a separate university for women in the region and name that university after Benazir Bhutto.
“The president and the prime minister are taking special measures for the progress and development of this region,” Wazir Baig said while addressing a gathering in Karakoram International University (KIU) after inaugurating a BEd elementary programme at the university.
“It is their desire that G-B comes at par with Punjab, Sindh and other provinces as far as development and education is concerned,” he said while urging the students and the faculty to work hard to raise educational standards at the KIU, which is the lone university in the whole region. Baig paid rich tributes to the former president Musharraf for establishing the university in G-B.
