In league: Government to ensure rehabilitation of IDPs says CM
‘People of Punjab stand by their Pakhtun brothers in the testing times’.

Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif said on Wednesday that all-out assistance would be rendered to the displaced population of North Waziristan. He said the government would ensure that the internally displaced persons (IDPs) returned home and were rehabilitated. Sharif was speaking to Akhuwat Executive Director Dr Muhammad Amjad Saqib.
The chief minister termed assisting the displaced persons a national, moral and religious obligation. Sharif urged the affluent to donate generously for the benefit of the IDPs.
Dr Amjad Saqib contributed a cheque worth Rs200,000 on behalf of Akhuwat towards the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund.
‘Helping our displaced brothers and sisters from North Waziristan is a noble gesture,” Sharif said. The chief minister said the people of North Waziristan would not be left alone during this moment of tribulation. He said the government and people of Punjab were in solidarity with their Pakhtun brothers and sisters in this moment of trial.
The government had donated Rs 500 million towards the rehabilitation of the displaced persons while lawmakers belonging to the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz had contributed their monthly salaries towards the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund.
Hecate Energy delegation meets CM
A delegation from Hecate Energy also met the chief minister on Wednesday. They discussed potential areas of cooperation with a focus on solar power.
Hecate Energy showed interest in establishing solar power plants. Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif said that the power crisis had adversely impacted the national economy. Sharif said that it was essential to overcome the energy crisis to ensure industrial continuity and provision of jobs for people.
