PCB to send legal notice to Arthur

Ex-South African coach’s comments irks board.

KARACHI: Taking serious notice of suspecting Pakistan team of match-fixing, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has decided to send a legal notice to former South Africa coach Micky Arthur for his remarks on the 2007 One-Day International (ODI) series.

Arthur last week said his team ‘strongly suspected’ Pakistan of match-fixing in the final ODI of the series in Lahore where the home side collapsed from a strong position while chasing an ordinary target. The claim was already played down by then-captain Shoaib Malik who termed the comments as ‘ridiculous’.

“I’m working on the notice which would be sent to Arthur on Monday,” Tafazzul Rizvi told The Express Tribune before hinting a strong legal action against the ex-coach. “We’ll ask him to provide evidence in this regard and in case of fail PCB and Pakistan team hold the right to start legal action against him.”
