Surprise raid: Sukkur DC visits markets unexpectedly

The deputy commissioner of Sukkur, Shahezad Tahir Thaheem, paid an unexpected visit to local markets of fruits and vegetables on Wednesday to check the prices and quality of essential commodities being sold during the month of Ramazan. Thaheem talked to the consumers and inquired about the rates and quality of items of daily use. He also checked the prices and quality of vegetables, fruits, meat and flour at different shops. He fined as many as 68 shopkeepers with Rs24,000 for selling items at a high price. He also issued directives to the district administration officers to ensure that quality items are offered at reasonable rates in the markets.
