FIFA approves Karachi Goal project

LAHORE:
The Federation of International Football Association (FIFA) has approved the Karachi Goal project and handed over $0.4 million in financial aid for the construction of the football complex.

“This was a long awaited project because Karachi loves football,” said Pakistan Foorball Federation (PFF) President Faisal Saleh Hayat. “This project was initially sanctioned for Karachi but it was brought to Lahore because the Sindh Government did not provide the land.

The PFF has now been able to get the land.” The Asian Football Confederation Vice-President and FIFA Development Officer for South and Central Asia Manilal Fernando revealed that Karachi was shortlisted from three other regions.

He also added that the PFF president has also requested for additional funding. “A goal project gets $0.4 million from FIFA but the president made a special request for additional funds ,” said Fernando. “I will recommend that so we have all the cost covered.”

It will take 10 months for completion from the moment builders get the green light on the project.
