Neelum jhelum project: Plan to produce 969MW
The project will annually contribute 5.15 billion units of cheap electricity to the national grid.

The Neelum Jhelum Hydroelectric Project is set to be completed in 2016 and will help in fulfilling the growing energy requirements of the country. A Wapda official said the project would produce 969 megawatts of electricity. He further said that it was an important project for the generation of low-cost energy and the government was exploring all possible avenues to resolve the energy crisis. Work on the project is in full swing and upon its completion the project will annually contribute 5.15 billion units of cheap electricity to the national grid. The official concluded by saying that the project, located in the vicinity of Muzaffarabad, envisages the diversion of the Neelum River water through a tunnel out-falling into the Jhelum River.
