Sindh govt offices directed to remain extra vigilant while handling mail
Warning issued by home secretary to avoid damage caused by use of chemicals or explosive materials through the method.
Following intelligence reports of possible terrorist attacks on government offices, the Sindh Home Department has directed government offices to take special care while handling mail.
Sindh Home Secretary Dr Niaz Ali Abbasi issued the warning, stating that extra precaution needs to be adopted so that militants are unable to cause any damage by using chemicals or explosive materials through mail.
In a letter addressed to administrative secretaries, Abbasi said that the recent operation against militants had demanded extra vigilance and preventive measures, not only by law enforcement agencies but also by government offices.
He said senior and subordinate officers should adopt special measures to handle mail in order to avoid any incident in this regard.
Abbasi advised that arrangements be made in all departments, as well as in subordinate offices for proper checking of mail with the use of electronic devices so that any loss could be averted.
