LAHORE:

An additional district and sessions judge sought comments from the Lower Mall SHO by July 5 on a petition seeking a case against a man said to be IGP’s driver, who has been accused of extorting money from the petitioner with the promise of getting his son a job in the police department.

Malik Matloob told the court he was friends with Muhammad Arshad, who claimed to be the IGP’s driver. He said Arshad promised to get his son Zeeshan a police job if he gave him Rs100,000. He said he gave Arshad the money but several months had passed and the promise had not been fulfilled. He said he told Arshad to return the money, who gave him Rs62,000 and a post-dated cheque for Rs38,000. Matloob said the cheque had bounced. He requested the court to direct police to register a case against Arshad.
