Keeping a check: Additional secretary visits Sabzi Mandi

The additional secretary issued directives to food authorities to keep a check on vegetable supplies to curb shortage.

Agriculture Additional Secretary Shaukat Ali Yousafzai has directed the relevant authorities to guarantee the provision of vegetables to the people of the province at affordable and reasonable prices. Yousafzai issued these directives on Monday while talking to vegetable merchants and farmers during his visit to Sabzi Mandi. While taking a tour of the market, Yousafzai checked the prices and availability of vegetables and expressed satisfaction over the price stability of commodities. The additional secretary also issued directives to food authorities to keep a check on vegetable supplies daily to ensure there is no shortage in Ramazan. “Other markets in the province and country should be contacted in case of shortage.” The secretary also checked the cleanliness of the market and ongoing construction work in Sabzi Mandi and directed the pace be accelerated. Sabzi Mandi Deputy Administrator Muzaffar Khan while briefing Yousafzai said after the suspension of the market committee, the prices of vegetables had gone down by 30% and price stability has been witnessed over the last month.
