Illegal profits: At least 10 arrested for overcharging

Around 10 traders were arrested in Khar tehsil on Monday for charging more than the official price list. Bajaur levies personnel accompanied by local administration officials raided shops in Khar, Inayat Kallay and Sadiqabad trade centres, arresting at least 10 shopkeepers and butchers for not following the official price list, said an official. Administration official Omar Said said the crackdown was conducted on the directives of Political Agent Syed Abdul Jabbar Shah on the advice of the price control committee to address increasing public complaints of profiteering. The administration warned traders against making illegal profits and said anyone found guilty of profiteering would be penalised.
