Industry woes: CNG association exasperated with policymakers

Khattak said that cost of doing business has increased substantially while the retail price is stagnant.

ISLAMABAD:

Central Chairman of the All Pakistan CNG Association (APCNGA), Pervaiz Khan Khattak has said the existing CNG policy is destroying the Rs450-billion sector.

The CNG sector that provides jobs and affordable transportation to tens of millions of people deserve better treatment by the policymakers, he said.

In a statement issued here today, Pervaiz Khattak said that CNG industry has been reducing pollution, cutting oil import bills and clipping inflation but it has been subjected to harsh treatment.

He said that prices of natural gas, electricity tariff, and taxes continue to increase  but the prices of the commodity have been kept suspended for a while.

Khattak said that cost of doing business has increased substantially while the retail price is stagnant, which has pushed many CNG operators to bankruptcy.

Ogra is bound to review prices twice a year in July and January but it has failed to discharge its duty.
