Helping the homeless: Army sends 25 tonnes of relief goods to Bannu for IDPs

Rs4 million cash donated by public, NGOs.

LAHORE: Pakistan Army dispatched 25 tonnes of relief goods to Bannu for the internally displaced persons (IDPs) by road on Sunday. The goods had been collected at the Army Relief Camp Fortress Stadium, Lahore. Various public organisations and welfare associations also donated Rs4 million for the displaced persons at the camp.

Talking to journalists, Brigadier Mazhar Kyani, Lahore Corps Logistics commander, said the relief goods, including rations and medicines, had been collected in one week. “A number of non-government organisations (NGOs) are making generous contributions in cash for IDPs. A welfare organisation, Pak Helpline, donated Rs1 million for the displaced persons,” he said.

Pakistan Army has established 11 relief camps in and around Lahore for collection of relief items for IDPs. The relief camps are located at Qaddafi Stadium, Defence Housing Authority, EME Society, Chunian, Kasur, Sheikhupura and Nankana Sahib.
