Maintaining order: Swat DPO outlines security plan for Ramazan

Police patrol teams to be increased in sensitive areas, major entry points of the district .

MINGORA:

Swat police has devised a foolproof security plan for the holy month of Ramazan, said DPO Sher Akbar Khan in a press briefing in his office late Saturday evening.

The DPO said police patrol teams have been increased in sensitive areas as well all major entry points of the district. According to the DPO, heavy contingents of the police force would be deployed at all entry and exit points as well as sensitive areas of the valley.

“The police teams will also be assigned duties outside mosques,” said Khan. More police teams will be deployed during the night and patrolling activities will be increased, he added.

The DPO said thousands of people from the rest of the country visit Swat during Ramazan to enjoy pleasant weather and, keeping that in mind, security has been beefed up.

“To avoid any mishap in the area, the registration of all visitors will be completed and their updated records will be made available at the relevant police station,” added Khan.

Discussing the traffic situation in the district, the DPO said a proper traffic management plan has been devised to ensure smooth flow of traffic in Mingora city.

“Traffic police has been directed to follow the new traffic plan and discourage illegal parking and reckless driving,” said Khan. He explained parking spaces have been identified to avoid traffic congestion.

The DPO further said the police force has been directed to follow the rules and facilitate people during Ramazan. “Our duty is to serve the citizens and we will ensure peace in the district with the help of the community,” said Khan.
