Misleading court: Petitioner asked to deposit Rs0.1m over perjury
The counsel also produced documents proving the contention and said that the petitioner was misleading the court.
LAHORE:
The Lahore High Court (LHC) on Friday fined a petitioner for committing perjury and ordered him to deposit Rs100,000 with the bar’s dispensary.
The petitioner, Rana Ashiq Ali, had filed a case against the Board of Revenue (BoR) stating that he had not been supplied attested analytical reports of sales tax by the board. He said the board was legally bound to provide the attested reports to him.
Counsel for the BoR informed the court that the petitioner had already filed another petition which was pending in the court of another judge.
He said the petitioner had annexed attested reports of sales tax with that petition. The counsel also produced documents proving the contention and said that the petitioner was misleading the court.
Justice Ijazul Ahsan took notice of the matter and observed that the petitioner had committed perjury. The judge fined the petitioner and directed him to deposit Rs100,000 with the Lahore High Court Bar Association (LHCBA) dispensary.
