Road accident victims: 28 families get compensation

Majeed appreciated the transport minister’s performance and his commitment to improving the transport sector in AJK.

MUZAFFARABAD:
Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) Prime Minister Chaudhry Abdul Majeed on Thursday distributed cheques among the heirs of 28 persons who lost their lives during different road accidents in Muzaffarabad district. Families of the victims got monetary compensation of Rs300,000 each. The prime minister announced to ban old vehicles in the state after the budget session, saying outdated vehicles are the reason for the rising road accidents. AJK Transport Minister Tahir Khokhar said that the government has paid monetary compensation to more than 200 families since June 2013. Majeed appreciated the transport minister’s performance and his commitment to improving the transport sector in AJK.
