Hostile call: Man held over threats to blow up FCCI

Police on Thursday arrested a man accused of threatening to blow up the Faisalabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FCCI) building. City Police Officer (CPO) Dr Haidar Ashraf told journalists that an anonymous caller had threatened to blow up the FCCI building on Tuesday. Businessmen and traders were alarmed and contacted police, he said. Ashraf said a special team was then formed to trace the suspect.“They used modern technology and succeeded in tracing the suspect’s whereabouts within 48 hours,” the CPO said. The police raided the location and arrested the suspect, Sheeraz Ahmad. The CPO said a case has been registered against the accused, who was being questioned by SP Farooq Hundal.
