Industry calls for expediting work on Gwadar Port

Asks govt to complete all mega projects in Balochistan.

RAWALPINDI:
The government must take development work on the Gwadar Port seriously as activity has already been delayed and it should step up work on the Gwadar-Kashgar road link, says the Rawalpindi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (RCCI).

An RCCI delegation, led by its President Dr Shimail Daud Arain, discussed the issue when it met Balochistan Governor Muhammad Khan Achakzai at the Balochistan House, Islamabad on Thursday.

Senior Vice President Malik Shahid Saleem, Vice President Muhammad Alam Chughtai, Executive Member Tariq Mughal, Chaudhry Jameel and Khursheed Barlas were part of the delegation.

Speaking on the occasion, the RCCI president said the business community welcomed the development projects started in Balochistan by the government and was hopeful that it would complete all the mega schemes in the province.

Stressing the need for improving law and order situation, he said restoration of peace in the province should remain the top priority of the government in order to achieve maximum results from the key projects.

He suggested that the federal government in consultation with the provincial administration should undertake new initiatives to restore peace and establish industrial and trading zones in Balochistan. “Pakistan’s progress is interlinked with the development of Balochistan,” he remarked.

He boasted that the RCCI was the first chamber that organised the All Chamber Conference in the country to forge unity among the business community.
