Road mishap: One killed, two injured in accident

A truck plunges into Panjkora River in Upper Dir district.

A driver was killed and two cleaners were injured when a truck plunged into Panjkora River in Upper Dir district on Thursday.


Sahibabad police official Muhammad Ali said the incident occurred around 9am.

“A truck loaded with rice was on its way to Narhan Khawr from Batkhela,” he said. Near Darora, the driver of the vehicle lost control of his truck and the vehicle plunged into Panjkora River.

The driver, who is also the owner of the vehicle, Hassan Zada, died on the spot.


Two cleaners, identified as Didan Khan and Muhammad Zeb, were injured.

The injured were taken to Timergara Headquarters Hospital, Lower Dir.

Meanwhile, residents of the area demanded the government take action against the National Highway Authority officials in the area.

The official said according to the residents, in this year alone, more than three road mishaps have occurred in Darora.

“These vehicles fall in the river due to dilapidated roads.”
