Ramazan rates: Govt launches online system to lodge complaints

K-P residents will be able to check prices of essential food items online.

As part of its special reforms initiative, the government has launched an online system to control prices of essential commodities across the province during Ramazan.

According to an official handout, this was revealed at a meeting by Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) Additional Chief Secretary Khalid Pervez on the special directives of the chief secretary on Wednesday. The meeting was attended by commissioners and deputy commissioners from the province along with other officials.

It was revealed in the meeting that through the system, the public can lodge complaints on a toll free number (0800-33-800 and 8899) and via email (complaint@kp.gov.pk) following which immediate action will be taken on their registered complaints. The system is accessible via www.fpc.kp.gov.pk.

As directed by the chief secretary, the K-P Directorate of Information Technology has nominated trained focal persons in all districts who will update prices of various commodities as fixed by the government and post them on the website.

Magistrates have been tasked to ensure that prices do not vary from the government-prescribed rate while police officials have been directed to ensure provision of security for magistrates during their surprise visits to markets.

The meeting also decided that food controllers and other relevant officials will ensure their presence in vegetable markets during bidding hours in the morning so prices of food items could be controlled.
