SHC issues contempt notices to IG Prisons, jailer, deputy jailer

A division bench of the High Court of Sindh (SHC) comprising Justice Gulzar Ahmed and Justice Imam Bux Baloch ordered on Thursday the issuance of contempt of court notices to the inspector general of prisons, Sindh, superintendent of the Malir district jail and the deputy jail superintendent for Nov 29.

The orders came in an application filed by an accused Hasan Brohi lodged in Malir prison as an under-trial prisoner in a number of cases. The applicant maintained that the SHC bench ordered a CT scan on his application but the alleged contemnors ignored the orders resulting in health issues. The bench asked the AAG why the orders were not followed and ordered contempt of court notices to be issued to the alleged contemnors for Nov 29.

Hasan Brohi is stated to be a personal secretary of Hakim Ali Zardari, a former MNA and former chairman of the Public Accounts Committee.
