Five men kidnapped and then killed, another shot dead

The bodies were taken to Civil hospital for autopsies

Four men who had been reported as kidnapped were found dead outside the city limits on Monday.


They were blindfolded and had their hands and legs bound together with ropes. The bodies were found in Raees Goth, Baldia Town within the limits of the Mochko police station. The police reached the area after residents informed them about the bodies.

The bodies were taken to Civil hospital for autopsies and were later shifted to the Edhi morgue in Sohrab Goth for identification. The inquiry officer, Saeed Dad Khan, claimed that during the initial investigation they learnt that the men were between the ages of 22 and 35. They were kidnapped, tortured and then shot at multiple times by unidentified men. While searching the area for evidence, the police found empty bullet shells. Khan added that a case had been registered and further investigation was being carried out.

Meanwhile, the wife of a Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) leader, Nasra Sohail, was shot at as she left her apartment near Numaish Chowrangi, MA Jinnah Road on Monday.

Nasra is the wife of Sohail Raza Abidi, who is the party’s district Central president. According to the sources, unidentified motorcyclists opened fire at her and managed to escape immediately from the scene of crime. She was taken to Aga Khan University Hospital for treatment. Nadra is associated with the Sindh education department.

Her husband condemned the attack and told The Express Tribune that she was shot at multiple times in the abdomen. Doctors said that she was out of danger. They said that the police had been informed about the incident and were trying to ascertain the motive behind the attack. No case was registered till the filing of this report.


In an unrelated incident, an 18-year-old girl was gunned down inside her house near Jut Line within the limits of the Brigade police station. She was shot once in the head and died on the spot. The body was taken to Civil Hospital, Karachi, for the autopsy and was handed over to the family afterwards.

The family claimed that she was killed over resisting a robbery, but SHO Ghulam Nabi Afridi said that initial investigation suggested that the girl shot herself over a family dispute. He added that they were investigating the case to find out what really happened.

Separately, Sahib Gul, 35, was shot dead at Qasba Colony Morr. Orangi Town police officials said the deceased was on a motorcycle when at least two armed men, also on a motorcycle, killed him. SHO Raja Tanvir said they have yet to ascertain the motive behind the incident.

A young man was found dead from a garbage dump within the limits of Manghopir police station. The police said that unidentified culprits kidnapped and then shot the victim. They dumped his body before escaping. The body was moved to the Edhi morgue for identification after the post-mortem at Abbasi Shaheed Hospital.

Sohrab Goth encounter

One of the three militants killed during an exchange of fire with the police in Sohrab Goth on Sunday was identified as Anisur Rehman. Sohrab Goth SHO Muhammad Shoaib said that the deceased militant’s companion, Raja Asif Shaikh, was also arrested by the Special Investigation Unit along with over seven kilogrammes of explosives. Rehman was also nominated in the FIR No. 113/14 registered at Special Investigation Unit.

The police are also trying to ascertain the identities of the two remaining accomplices who were killed during Sunday’s encounter.
