Illegal construction: CAA to file case against govt for violating agreement
The CAA earlier served a notice to the provincial government on the issue.

The Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) is planning to file a case on Tuesday (today) against the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) government for allegedly violating a building construction agreement signed between the two.
According to an official of the CAA, an agreement was signed with the provincial government in 1992 to construct a building for a vocational training institute within the premises of the Chitral airport.
However, it was recently discovered that the under-construction building’s height is more than the set standard and thus the government is in violation of the National Airfield Clearance Policy (NACP), 1994, said the official.
The CAA earlier served a notice to the provincial government on the issue. Following this, Technical Education Director General Shakil Ahmad told The Express Tribune on May 15 that the project had been removed from the Annual Development Programme and the vocational centre will not be constructed.
However, the CAA official, on the condition of anonymity, told The Express Tribune on Monday that construction work had not been abandoned and the building had been raised above the level mentioned in the agreement. “We will file a case against the provincial government at a local court in Chitral,” he said.
This will be the 13th case filed, he added, explaining that 12 cases have already been filed against the violators.
