Lahore mayhem: Justice will not be served till PM, Punjab CM resign, says Pervez Elahi
PML-Q Punjab president claims 'Sharif brothers had told police to teach PAT workers a lesson.'
LAHORE:
Referring to the bloodshed that took place in Lahore on June 17, Pakistan Muslim League - Quaid (PML-Q) Punjab president Chaudhry Pervez Elahi on Saturday demanded the resignation of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif.
Speaking at a press conference in Lahore, the provincial party president remarked that "justice will not be served till the resignation of PM Nawaz and Punjab CM Shahbaz."
On June 17, at least 10 people were killed and dozens were injured during a clash between the police and workers of Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT). The mayhem had occurred when the police tried to break the barriers outside the PAT leader Dr Tahirul Qadri’s residence and Adara Minhajul Quran’s Central Secretariat in Model Town Colony.
Elahi stated today that 30 PAT workers are still missing.
He also claimed that the "two Sharif brothers had told the police to teach the PAT workers a lesson," adding that the Pakistan Muslim League - Nawaz (PML-N) government has ruined the police and because of that the law and order situation is bad.
The PML-Q Punjab president demanded their resignations and said that they should face an inquiry which will expose the truth.
Elahi further stated that "the movement against the Model Town incident will not stop now."
