Inflation: Index decreases 0.31% during the week

SPI for week under review for lowest income group was recorded at 203.47 points against 202.88 for previous week.

ISLAMABAD: The Sensitive Price Indicator (SPI) for the week ended June 19, 2014 has registered an increase of 0.31% over the previous week for the lowest income group. The SPI for the week under review for the above mentioned group was recorded at 203.47 points against 202.88 registered in the previous week, according to provisional figures from the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics. The SPI for the combined groups also increased by 0.29%; from 212.21 points in the previous week to 212.86 this week. Compared to the corresponding week last year, the SPI for combined groups inflated 7.83%. During the week under review, average prices of indexed items changed as follows — 8 items registered a decrease, 15 items increased and the remaining 30 items remained unchanged.
