Kashmiri leader manhandled by BJP activists
Shabir Ahmad Shah was addressing a press conference in Jammu when 10 activists stormed in and attacked him.
JAMMU:
The president of the Democratic Freedom Party, Shabir Ahmad Shah, was manhandled at a press conference in Jammu on Thursday.
While he was addressing a press conference, around 10 activists of BJP Youth Wing (Yuva Morcha) stormed into the venue and manhandled the leader.
The angry activists also threw chairs and broke microphones, thereby disrupting the entire media address.
Shah was released yesterday from jail, with the state police chief describing the move as “strictly according to the government’s policy.”
Having earlier refused to be set free on a stringently-defined parole, Shah stepped out of prison with all his Public Safety Act (PSA) charges dropped by the government.
Shabir Shah’s latest stint at the Kot Bhaklwal Jail had begun on February 3, barely months after he was released from a long spell behind bars during the shrine board agitation in 2008.
