Clash between police, Lyari gang leaves 1 dead, 2 injured

Lyari, Baghdadi and Kalri police stations were fired at as a result of a clash between police and gangsters in the Lyari area of Karachi which left one person dead earlier today, Express News reported on Monday.
Police are attempting to halt the attacks and also aim to arrest the gangsters alive.
Ariel firing has resulted in the closing of shops nearby and a pedestrian has been injured as a result of the firing as well.
Earlier it was reported that one gangster was killed while two others sustained injuries in an exchange of fire. The clash took place in the Musa Lane and Baghdadi areas of Lyari.
The police received information about the presence of gangsters belonging to the Sheraz Comrade group, which is one of the gangs involved in Lyari gang war, in these areas.
When the police reached the sites, the suspects opened fire at the police. In retaliatory firing, one gangster was killed while two others were injured critically.
The deceased was identified as Ghaffar Niazi who is one of the main commanders of the Sheraz Comrade gang. The police has confirmed the casualties.
According to the police, Niazi was involved in several cases of murder, attempted murder and kidnapping for ransom.
The exchange of fire is still ongoing and a large contingent of the police has been called in. The police have also cordoned off the sites of the clash.
