Bad taste: Man sentenced to life for killing wife

An additional district and sessions judge on Saturday sentenced a man to life imprisonment for setting his wife ablaze for preparing bad food.
His wife had succumbed to her injuries. Boota Masih had married Shabana Bibi in 2007. He set her ablaze in June 2009 for allegedly “preparing bad curry”. Shahbana Bibi’s brother Sikander Hayat filed a complaint against Boota Masih with the Nishtar Colony police. The police investigated the case and presented a challan in court. The judge sentenced Boota Masih to life imprisonment and fined him Rs200,000. In case of non-payment, he would have to undergo six months additional imprisonment.
