Four cities are in the running to lead a possible US bid to host the 2024 Summer Games, announced the US Olympic Committee (USOC) on Friday.



“Boston, Los Angeles, San Francisco and Washington have each given us reason to believe they can deliver a compelling and successful bid,” said USOC Chief Executive Scott Blackmun. “We look forward to continuing to explore the possibilities as we consider 2024.”


Dallas and San Diego had also expressed interest in a bid.


The narrowing of candidates came after a 16-month process that began with the USOC reaching out to approximately 35 American cities to gauge interest in a bid.


The USOC expects the International Olympic Committee deadline for 2024 bid submissions to be in 2015, and the selection of a host city will be made in 2017.
