ISLAMABAD:
Afghan Taliban say they have carried out nearly 250 attacks up until noon on what they called the "fake election process" across Afghanistan.
"Attacks in almost all provinces have forced closure of many polling centres," Taliban spokesperson, Zabihullah Mujahid said in a statement on Saturday.
He condemned the Afghan media for its "black out" of the Taliban attacks and said the "pro-West Afghan media” has not accommodated reports of the Taliban activities.
Afghan officials have not commented on the Taliban claim.
"Our fighters are carrying out coordinated attacks on polling centers, guards and related persons," Mujahid said.
Another Afghan militant group, "Fidaye Mahaz", also claimed attacks in parts of Afghanistan.
"Our fighters have launched several attacks on election centers in Kunar province," the group's spokesperson, Qari Hamza said in a statement on Saturday.
