Punjab budget 2014-2015: Information and culture budget

The allocated amount consists of Rs484 million for the ongoing schemes and Rs123 million for the new schemes.

LAHORE: Rs607 million has been allocated by the Punjab government for the information and culture in the fiscal budget for 2014-15 which is 82.5 per cent more than the allocated amount for the fiscal year 2013-14 (Rs106 million).

The allocated amount consists of Rs484 million for the ongoing schemes and Rs123 million for new schemes.

The objectives of the Punjab government are to project and promote policies and priorities of the government of Punjab, protect and conserve the cultural heritage of Punjab, promote language, art and culture of the Punjab, expansion of existing network of Arts Councils and museums in the Punjab, conservation and up-gradation of crafts, preservation and restoration of art work and to build the government image amongst the masses through effective use of electronic and print media.

The government is planning to upgrade and improve the facilities in Lahore Arts Council, construct auditorium of arts councils at Sargodha and Gujranwala, construct and conserve Murree arts council into multiplex cinema and develop park and complete the basement of car parking, of Doongi Ground MM Alam Road Lahore in the fiscal year 2014-15.
