No respite: Two cops killed in separate attacks
As many security officials injured in IED explosion in Bajaur Agency.

Two police officials were killed in Peshawar and Lower Dir on Friday, while two security forces officials were injured in Bajaur Agency in separate incidents of militancy.
An official of Chamkani police said Constable Muhammad Farooq of the special police force was guarding Jamia Uloomul Quran mosque in Ghaz Chowk when three unidentified armed men riding a motorbike opened fire at him. Farooq died on the spot, while the assailants took away the deceased policeman’s AK-47.
Meanwhile, a constable was killed in Lower Dir in a grenade attack on a check post. Amir Rahman, an official of Chakdara police, said two militants riding a motorbike lobbed a grenade inside a police check post in Gulabad around 1am. The resultant explosion killed senior constable Ayub Khan. “The militants escaped after the incident and police shifted Khan’s body to Timergara Headquarters Hospital,” said Rahman.
The deceased’s remains were taken to his hometown and laid to rest in Dheri Ouch.
A case was filed against unidentified militants and further investigation is under way, the official added.
Roadside IED
An improvised explosive device (IED) planted by militants at a roadside in Khar, Bajaur Agency exploded near a vehicle of the security forces, injuring two officials.
Khar political administration official Umer Syed said the incident occurred at 8am when a vehicle of the security forces was heading to Salarzai. “When the vehicle reached Char Gori, an IED planted by unidentified militants exploded and injured two officials,” said Syed.
He added the wounded officials, identified as Aminullah and Noro Gul, were taken to Khar Headquarters Hospital where they were said to be stable.
High-intensity bomb defused
The bomb disposal unit (BDU) defused a high-intensity bomb planted by unidentified militants outside a mosque in Dar Samand area of Doaba, Hangu.
BDU In charge Asadullah Khan told The Express Tribune he was informed by police and rushed to the site with his team. “Militants had planted a bomb hidden inside a canister outside Jamia Masjid Chinar,” said Asadullah.
Police cordoned off the area and the BDU defused the device which weighed 20 kilogrammes. A case was filed against unidentified militants.
