The Lyari police killed an alleged gangster in an encounter and recovered two rocket launchers, a pistol and ammunition from his possession.


SSP City Shiraz Nazir in a press conference at his office said that the police conducted a raid at Musa Lane near the Miran Shah shrine after being tipped off. The deceased was identified as Bilal aka Button, the alleged commander of the Shakeel Badshah gang.

Bilal and his accomplice were transferring ammunition to another location when the police conducted the raid. His companion was also injured in the firing but managed to escape, leaving behind a cache of ammunition. Bilal was wanted in a number of cases of murder and kidnapping for ransom.

Meanwhile, the Docks police foiled a robbery attempt and killed an alleged robber in an encounter on Wednesday morning inside a house in Machar Colony.

The police said that three armed men forcefully entered a house in Machar colony, where a wedding was being celebrated, and started to rob people on gunpoint. The police responded immediately to the incident and reached the house.

An encounter between the robbers and the police followed and as a result, one of the robbers was shot dead, another was arrested but the third managed to escape. The police added that the deceased was identified as Ismail aka Michal, an alleged activist of a Bengali gang, while the arrested was identified as Imam Husain.
