New regulations: Mango exporters fear losing EU market
Mango exporters have sought the help of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and Finance Minister Ishaq Dar against the regulations that have stopped the export of the fruit to the European market, causing a loss of billions of rupees.
A 10-member delegation of mango exporters met Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) President Engineer Sohail Lashari and Vice President Kashif Anwar to apprise them of the problems faced by them.
They believe that because of the wrong policies, not only the country was suffering, but jobs of thousands of workers were also in jeopardy.
Since Indian mango was banned in Europe due to the presence of fruit flies, it has provided a golden opportunity for Pakistani exporters to capture the European market.
