Khyber-Pakhtunhwa (K-P) Minister for Health Shahram Khan Tarkai on Monday said the proposed ‘breast feeding act’ would be passed by the provincial assembly in its next session.



He was addressing an advocacy seminar titled ‘Saving Newborn Lives by Early Initiation of Breast Feeding and Exclusive Breast Feeding’ organised by Research and Advocacy Fund and Health Education and Literacy Programme at a local hotel.


“It has already been approved by the cabinet and signed by the chief minister and would be passed by the assembly and then implemented,” said the minister. Tarakai added the government would keep a check and not allow pharmaceutical brands which are harmful for the health of infants.
