Enforcing the law: Five arrested by police, two robbers killed

An alleged robber was shot dead by his companion while three suspected gang members were injured in an encounter on Saturday.
The three suspected gangsters, Momin Pathan, Jafer Baloch and Sheroz, were arrested after an encounter with the police on Mauripur Road, Lyari, within the limits of Kalri police station. DSP Murtaza Mirani said the arrested suspects were affiliated with the Lyari gang war and were looting passersby when the police intercepted them. The suspects initially opened fire at the patrol team. In the retaliatory fire by the police, all three suspects were wounded and subsequently arrested.
Separately, a suspected robber was shot dead, allegedly by his own companion, over a monetary dispute at Jinnah Square, within the limits of Malir City police station. The deceased was identified as Muhammad Ali, a resident of Korangi. Police officials said that one of the robbers, identified as Zulfi, shot and killed his companion. Meanwhile, Special Investigation Unit (SIU) police claimed to have apprehended two suspects allegedly involved in kidnappings. The suspects were identified as Bakht Ali alias Langra and Ali Dad.
