Conserving resources: CM directs SNGPL to regularise illegal gas connections

Khattak expressed that regularisation of illegal connections in Karak will help prevent wastage of precious resource

The CM directed the utility to install 4,000 new gas meters in Karak.

Chief Minister (CM) Pervez Khattak has approved the provision of a loan to Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) and under this agreement the utility will regularise all illegal gas connections in Karak and Kohat districts.

This was decided in a meeting held in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa House, Islamabad, stated a handout on Saturday.

According to the handout, the meeting decided that SNGPL, under a written agreement with the representatives of the Karak Jirga, will have to regularise all domestic connections, and both the company and local administration would extend their cooperation in this regard.  “No illegal connections will be allowed in future,” the handout stated.

The CM also directed the utility to install 4,000 new gas meters in Karak. Khattak expressed hope that regularisation of illegal connections in Karak will help prevent wastage of the precious natural resource and surplus gas would be utilised in other sectors to meet the energy requirements of the province.
