PESHAWAR:
Retired government employees on Thursday protested against the 10% increase in their pensions, terming it inadequate.
The All Pakistan Pension Association convened in front of the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) Assembly and blocked Khyber Road for some time, leaving commuters stranded. Protesters carried placards and banners inscribed with their demands and also chanted slogans against the government.
Demonstrators said the prices of daily commodities are increasing relentlessly due to which they were unable to feed their families. They demanded the government to raise their pension in proportion to the price hike and later dispersed peacefully.
