KARACHI:
The subordinate courts of the city looked deserted on Wednesday as hundreds of cases fixed for the day were adjourned due to the unstable law and order situation of the city after the arrest of Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) chief Altaf Hussain in London on Tuesday.
The unavailability of public transport also contributed to the inactivity in the courtrooms. Litigants were also unable to reach the courts and the attendance of the court staff also remained low. The police did, however, produce some recently arrested suspects in courts to obtain their remand as the suspects could not be detained for more than 24 hours without being produced before the relevant courts.
