New Plans: More players may be invited for emerging camp
The idea was to bring players who had done well for Pakistan in U19 cricket and shown promise at first-class level.
The Moin Khan-led national selection committee is considering inviting more than the originally proposed 24 players for the second phase of the training camp, which will start in August as an ‘emerging’ camp.
The selection committee earlier wanted to invite 24 players for the month-long exercise, which will be a follow-up of the current training camp.
The idea was to bring players who had done well for Pakistan in U19 cricket and also those who have shown promise at the first-class level.
However, The Express Tribune has learnt that after a meeting on Tuesday, the selectors are likely to call more players and shortlist them after final trials.
“There are more than 24 players we’re looking for the summer camp after our discussions,” said one of the selectors. “We’ll call more players than originally planned and will cut them down to 24 after having final trails.”
