ISLAMABAD:
Information Minister Pervez Rashid while talking to the media in Islamabad on Wednesday censured Senator Aitzaz Ahsan for making irresponsible comments on Karachi’s volatile situation.

"Inappropriate statements can compromise the security situation of Karachi and also the Pakistan Peoples Party’s government in Sindh," said Rashid, adding that Ahsan should know better about the scenario as his party is in power in the province.

"I will not allow any opposition member to sit in Islamabad and make comments which may jeopardise the security situation in Karachi."

Earlier, Ahsan had hinted that the PML-N government had purposely delayed the issuance of MQM chief Altaf Hussain's NIC and passport.

However, the information minister said the government has provided full support to MQM leader Altaf Hussain in regards to his NIC and passport.

Further, he said, events unfolding in Britain are in line with British laws and the government of Pakistan cannot interfere with their process.

However, he claimed, as soon as Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif learnt about the developments, he directed Pakistan’s counselor in Britain to immediately contact Altaf Hussain.

The prime minister directed the counsel to provide legal or moral support to the MQM chief and also keep the government of Pakistan updated on the issue.

Pervez Rashid further stated that as per government norms if any Pakistani living abroad needs help or support, the government of Pakistan plays its role in providing support without hesitation.
